John G. Shannon

John G. Shannon, 62, of Rockland, died on December 15, 2013 at the Brigham and Womens Hospital in Boston. He was born in Boston, son of the late Frederic and Ada (Doherty) Shannon and was raised and educated in Dorchester. He was a graduate of St. Brendans School and Boston English High School. Jack attended LaBoure School of Nursing and has been a Registered Nurse with the Boston Visiting Nurses Association for the past 22 years. A Rockland resident since 1980, he loved to participate in sporting activities playing in mens hockey leagues, softball teams and flag football teams. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Lyn R. (Olsen) Shannon and their children, Christopher J., Daniel P. and Mark G. Shannon, all of Rockland. He was the proud grandfather of Alexis J. Shannon. Also surviving are a brother Frederic Shannon of Eastham and a sister Donna Doyle of Boston. He was pre deceased by a brother James Shannon. The family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate his life at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St., Rockland on Wednesday, December 18 from 5-8 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated in Holy Family Church, 403 Union St., Rockland at 9 a.m. on Thursday, December 19th.
