Marie MacGregor

Marie Kathleen (Pendergast) MacGregor died peacefully at her home in Janetville, Ontario on Aug. 11, 2013, with her beloved husband Robert by her side. Daughter of the late Thomas R. and Florence G. Pendergast. Marie was born and raised in Braintree, Massachusetts. She relocated to Ohio where she raised her family, and then to Canada to live out her retirement. Marie is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert MacGregor, and by her 6 children: Stephen, William, Laura, Susan, Lisa, and Jennifer. She also leaves 13 grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters: Margaret Elizabeth and Patricia Ann, and a brother, James Edward. She is survived by 3 brothers: Thomas, John and Joseph, and 4 sisters: Truda, Catherine, Theresa and Marybeth. Marie graduated Sacred Heart School in Weymouth, then attended Quincy Hospital School of Nursing, where she earned her RN. She practiced her craft until she retired. While in Ohio, Marie and Bob joined the Third Order of Saint Francis, continuing to ascribe to the fraternal bond throughout their lives. Aside from a busy career of nursing and motherhood, Marie was an accomplished and prolific artist and poet. Her many landscapes were on display at various art galleries, and her precious portraits adorn the walls of the MacGregor home. Her poetry was powerful and moving, a testament to yet another aspect of her talented life. A memorial Mass in celebration of Maries life will be offered at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, at Immaculate Conception Church, 720 Broad St., Weymouth. A reception will follow at the Hearth and Kettle Restaurant on Rte. 18, in Weymouth.
