Romano H. DePaoli

Romano H. DePaoli, 83 years of age, entered life eternal Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at the Southwood at Norwell Nursing Facility. He was born in Roxbury and received his education in Boston schools and graduated with a masters degree from Boston State Teachers College. He taught Industrial Arts subjects in Boston schools for forty-three years before his retirement. He was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association. He was a Korean War veteran having served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Kearsage. Romano ran thirteen Boston Marathons and later participated in the Quincy Senior Olympics. He was a lifetime member of the Quincy YMCA. He was an avid bowler. He was a devout Catholic and regularly attended St. Ambrose Church in Dorchester and St. Anns Church at Neponset. He was a Dorchester resident for many years. Romano was the beloved husband of the late Barbara Theresa (Toomey) DePaoli. He was the devoted father of Michael R. DePaoli married to Maria DePaoli , Denise A. DePaoli and Steven DePaoli all of East Weymouth. He was the loving grandfather of Ryan Kelly, Aidan Kelly and Domenic DePaoli all of Weymouth. He is survived by his brother, Henry DePaoli, and his sister, Lina Kiley, both of California. He was the brother of the late John DePaoli. Visiting hours will be at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 870 Broad Street (opposite the U.S. Post Office in Jackson Square), East Weymouth, Wednesday, Jan. 29, from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be a gathering at the funeral home Thursday, Jan. 30, at 11 a.m. to be followed by a Mass of Christian burial at the Immaculate Conception Church, Broad Street, East Weymouth, 12 p.m. Memorial donations if desired may be sent to DAV Braintree Chapter 29, 788 Liberty Street, Braintree, MA 02184.
