Theresa A. Powell

Theresa A. Powell, of Wollaston, formerly of South Boston, died Sept. 12, 2013. Theresa was a professor at the Boston College School of Education for over 30 years and was quite proud of her work and her students. She received her Doctorate in Education from Boston University. She loved the Boston College athletic teams and was a season ticket holder for many years, as well as an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Theresa was proud to have served as a Corporal in the US Army during the Korean War. She enjoyed spending her free time at Wollaston and Carson Beaches, and was a lover of animals. She was passionate about supporting St. Judes Childrens Research, Special Education and was a member and supporter of the South Boston Athletic Hall of Fame. Beloved daughter of the late Jacob Powell and Nora (McDonough). Loving sister of Rita Murray of Chelmsford, Ann OConnell of Raynham and the late Mary Sullivan, Michael, John, Josephine Connolly, Helen Kepple and Katherine Powell. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4 - 8 p.m. in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., Quincy. A celebration of life service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday prior to the funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 10 a.m. Cremation will follow.
