William A. Gallivan Jr.

William A.Bill Gallivan Jr. retired B.F.D. of Weymouth Port formerly of Braintree passed away Dec. 13, 2013. Son of the late Evelyn and William Gallivan Sr. Best friend and husband of Marilyn (Harvey) Gallivan. Devoted father of Lisa Gallivan- Reed and her husband Scott of Hanson and Mark Gallivan and his wife Kate of Harwich. Cherished grandfather of Joshua, Courtney and Ashley Reed. Brother of the late Richard Gallivan. Brother in- law of Terry Gallivan. Uncle of Danny, Kathleen and Diane. Bill attended Braintree schools and served in the US Army and National Guard. He joined the Braintree Fire Department in 1956 for 20 years. During that time he was Lieutenant officer in charge of the Fire Prevention bureau, and was the first President of the Braintree Fire Fighters Union. He was a past instructor at North Eastern University and the Mass State Police Academy for crime scene and arson investigation. He was also the former president and co-owner of Investigo Corp. His community service included President of Braintree Youth Hockey, Past Commodore of the South Shore Yacht Club and a member of the Commodores Club of America and the Rockland Golf Club. An accomplished woodworker Bill also enjoyed boating and golf. He was also a fan of the Bruins, Red Sox and Patriots. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit the McMaster Funeral Home. 86 Franklin St. (Rte. 37), Braintree Tuesday, Dec. 17, from 5 - 8 p.m. Funeral services and burial will be private.
