William O'Rourke

William O'Rourke, 79, of Bridgewater, and formerly of Hanover, died peacefully April 27. William grew up in Uxbridge and was the loving son of the late Richard and Lilla (Johnson) O'Rourke. After attending Uxbridge High School he joined the Army and served in Korea and Germany. William married his wife Claire June 28, 1958; they lived in Connecticut before moving to Hanover, where they raised their family. He worked for General Dynamics for 35 years and in 1985 the company moved him to San Diego. After retiring in 1994, he returned to live in Bridgewater. William loved coaching little league baseball, football, and basketball and was an avid golfer in Lakeville. He also enjoyed traveling, genealogy, and tracing his family roots in County Kerry, Ireland. He was the loving father of Ann E. Lane of Foxboro, Mark W. O'Rourke and his wife Wanda of Bridgewater, Michael S. O'Rourke and his wife Sheila of Quincy, and Steven P. O'Rourke and his wife Cristal of Texas. William was also "Granddad-O" to Tara, Tom, Chrissy, Joshua, Billy, Jesse, and Sarah; great-grandfather to Evelyn, Emma, and Savannah.
