Will was born in Bryn Mawr, Pa. He was a graduate of Conshohocken High School (at age 16), Pennsylvania Maritime Academy, and Temple University (with honors) and elected to the National Business Honor Society, Beta Gamma Sigma. He was commissioned in the U.S. Naval Reserves, licensed as a merchant marine, and served in the U.S. Navy. Between 1945 and 1953, his employment and naval military service took him to the South Pacific and Asia, Central and South America, Belgium, and all along the East Coast of North America to Greenland and Labrador. Will had a brilliant mind, a kind and generous heart, and was a voracious reader and scholar who savored the simplicity of daily life, the value of hard work and education, and the joy of family.
