Aletha D. Munro Obituary
Aletha D. (Doolittle) Munro, of Randolph, passed away on January 17, 2018, after a long battle with Alzheimers Disease, at 84 years old. Aletha was born and raised in Bethany, Conn. with her sister Edith and her beloved parents, Wesley and Albeana Doolittle. Her parents were generous and kind and these traits were passed down to Aletha. Aletha studied voice at the NE Conservatory in Boston and attained her Bachelors in Music. Her career brought many recordings, concerts as a soloist and also to Symphony Hall. Aletha taught voice both at Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy as well as privately. She also tried to give her youngest son Michael a few pointers as the singer in a heavy metal band. Aletha had many jobs, sometimes 2-3 at a time, providing for her family in Randolph. In addition to soloing and the Mixed Up ten pin bowling league, she was often found crafting, painting, practicing with choir at church, organizing senior groups, and also singing with the birds. Her love was for God, her family, music and art... in that order. Aletha was a strong woman of faith who attended Bible Study and had a love for others in the church, young and old, who brought with them life-long friendships. Her attitude of thankfulness and faithfulness are carried on through her family. Aletha enjoyed being a Grammy to the fullest with her boisterous laugh, her singing to the grandkids when they were young and playing for hours with cars and play-doh with Sean and Dan and then played dolls and crafts with May. She was much loved and has been missed for many years in our household. Aletha was the loving mother of Lori Hodgkins with husband Larry of Maine, son Michael Munro and his wife Nanci of Massachusetts and the late Jonathan Munro. She was also a loving grandmother to Sean, Daniel and May Munro. Aletha also shared life with close friends Ken and Thelma Calney, who in their competitive spirit got to heaven first. Shared wonderful memories regarding our Mom and Grammy and grateful for the time spent with her. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation on Monday, January 22, from 4 - 7 p.m. with a service to remember at 6 p.m. in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main St. (Rte. 28), Randolph. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to support the Haiti medical mission trip that Mike and Nanci will be going on in March. Or the work trip that Mike and May will take in November. Thank you.
