Alvina G. (Doucette) O'Brien, 81, of Middleboro, formerly of Hanson and Dorchester, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at the Hannah B.G. Shaw Home, where she spent the past eight years. The daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Brown) Doucette, she was born in Boston, Dec. 9, 1930. She was raised, educated and a graduate of Dorchester High School. She enjoyed summers in Monponsett, traveling and enjoyed winters in Sebastian, Fla. Mrs. O'Brien was a former employee of the Mass Unemployment Office, where she worked 20 years until her retirement. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Wife of the late Joseph F. O'Brien, she was the mother of Kathleen A. Darcy and her husband Michael of Sebastian, Fla., and Patricia M. Tierney and her husband Thomas of Halifax; devoted grandmother of Brynn, Dara and Caitlin; cherished great-grandmother of Maicey, Cadence, Maren and Joseph; sister of Marion E. Killion of Jupiter, Fla., Arthur "Buddy" Doucette of Florida and the late Charles Doucette, Frances Fischer, Barbara Runey and Joyce Bekerian. Also survived by several loving nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph the Worker Church, 1 Maquan St., Rte. 14, in Hanson. Interment in Fern Hill Cemetery in Hanson. Visiting hours omitted.
