Anthony Thomas King, of Hingham, died suddenly and unexpectedly at his home Aug. 16, 2012. Adored husband and eternal soulmate of Jane L. Kreinsen-King. Cherished son of Mary T. (Boggan) King of Dorchester and the late Thomas M. King. Devoted brother of the late Maureen King of Princeton, NJ. Proud uncle of Catherine Martin of London, England, and Thailand, and Thomas N. Martin of London, England. Loving nephew of Mary Folan of Galway, Ireland, Barbara Marini of Arlington, Bridget Bradley of West Roxbury, Rita Boggan of Norfolk, England, and the late Patrick Boggan, Coleman King, Patrick King, and Margaret Flaherty. Survived by many wonderful cousins in the United States, Ireland, England, and France. Loving brother-in-law of Carolyn H. Kreinsen, M.D. of Marina Bay, Quincy, and of Suzanne A. Kreinsen and her husband Kevin W. Leary of Westwood. Lifelong best friend of Paul Gallagher of Sarasota, FL; and beloved honorary member of the entire extended, multi-generational, Gallagher family. Tony was born in London, England, to his two incredible Irish parents, his mother Mary from Wexford and his father Thomas from Carraroe, Connemara, Galway. When he was in grade school, his family immigrated to the United States to Savin Hill, Dorchester. There he attended St. Williams School. He was a member of the acclaimed St. Williams Band. He then attended Mt. Carmel High School in Hamilton, MA. Tony earned his Bachelors degree from Northeastern University. Later, he earned two Masters degrees, the first from Boston State College and the second from the University of Massachusetts at Boston. Always extremely hardworking, among other jobs, he worked at Fenway Park, Brighams Ice Cream, Jordan Marsh Company, and The Boston Globe. Later, he taught English at the Don Bosco High School in Boston and ultimately became the English Department Head there. Currently, Tony held the position of Director of Guidance for the Braintree Public Schools where he had been employed for the past thirty-five years. Dedicated to his work with young people, he was still an active counselor in addition to being an administrator. For many years he was a volunteer with the Office for Children. He was the recipient of numerous awards, notably the Laura Warcup Distinguished Educators Award from the Norfolk County Teachers Association. This past year he was the president of the South Shore Guidance Directors. He was a member of the National Education Association, Massachusetts Teachers Association, the Braintree Education Association, the Norfolk County Teachers Association, and the Massachusetts School Counselors Association. He particularly loved his association with FOCUS, a Catholic school counselors association. Tony was a talented cook and an avid reader. Tony was a parishioner at St. Agatha Church in Milton. With his deep-rooted humility, with his most gentle nature, with his extraordinary, unfailing kindness, and with his amazing ability to listen and to empathize with others, Tony truly showed each of us how this life should be led. Dearest, loving Saint Anthony, most Sacred Heart of Jesus, and most merciful Mother of Perpetual Help, please pray for him and for all of his absolutely heartbroken survivors. Visiting hours in the John J. O'Connor & Son Funeral Home, 740 Adams St., (near Gallivan Blvd), Dorchester, Monday 3-8 p.m. Funeral Mass in St. Agatha's Church, Milton, Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock.
