Barbara Pridham Obituary
Barbara Pridham, 90, of Plymouth, passed away on August 5, 2018, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Arlington, Mass. on November 3, 1927. As an Alumni of UMASS Amherst, a continuing ed student later in life, she earned her Bachelors degree in Womens Studies. With this background, her fierce determination and the spirit of the Suffragettes, she championed many causes for womens equality. She was a true advocate for human rights. Her love and respect for the Native American Culture can be seen by the many books lining her beloved bookcase or in her collection of jewelry from the many Pow Wows she attended over her lifetime with enthusiasm, love and honor. She shared the reverence for mother earth and all of her living creatures. Although a private person by nature, she always stayed involved in her communities; whether by spotlighting small businesses with freelance articles in local papers or by reaching out to find common themes by which to bring people together. Most recently and as an avid reader with a deep love of books, she began the Bookworms Book Club, sponsored by the Plymouth COA in hopes to help seniors flourish both intellectually and emotionally. Even when her illness would have otherwise, her spirit persisted to walk her through her last days of life as a woman of dignity and grace. She is survived by her daughters, Gail; Jayne and wife Pam; Meg Shamon and partner Donna. Granddaughter Samantha and sister Jean Woehrle; nieces and nephews; and Sage her beloved cat. Preceded in death by twin sister Betty and Anne. Mums work here is finished, may she rest in peace. With special and heartfelt thanks to Cranberry Hospice, Old Colony Elder Services and BID cancer center. In lieu of flowers, please make any donation to the above. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. Services will be held at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 384 Court Street, Plymouth, MA on Tuesday, August 14, at 10 a.m. by Pastor Stott.
