Barry Francis Guaraldi, 69, of Middleboro, formerly of Bridgewater and Plymouth, passed away at his home surrounded by family Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, after his battle with cancer. Barry was born Aug. 7, 1943, to Guido Aldo and Dorothy Mae (Correa) Guaraldi, the oldest of six children. He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1961. He served in the Air Force between 1961 and 1965 during the Vietnam War. In 1973, Barry graduated from Bridgewater State College with a degree in Education. In 1980, he began his long career at Bridgewater State College working for the Information Technology department. For 32 years, he worked with an inspiring dedication and love for technology, his co-workers, and mostly his student employees. He retired from Bridgewater State University on May 18, 2012. Barry loved spending time with family. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, photography and gardening. Barry is survived by his wife, Wendy Alison Howe; sons, Adam Kenneth and Jason Aldo; and grandchildren, Tayla Brooke and Micah Brayden. He is also survived by his father, Guido Aldo Guaraldi; siblings, Gayle Ann, Donna Marie, Glenn Alan, Dorothy Mary and Brenda Jean; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Barry will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at the Edgewood Church of Christ, located at 26 Edgewood St., Mansfield. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that memorial donations be sent to Trout Unlimited Southeastern Mass Chapter, Attn: Barry Guaraldi Fund, 77 Walnut St., West Bridgewater, MA 02379. All donations will go to fund local fishing activities for children in the area, along with restoration of a stream called Red Brook in Wareham, which he had a great passion for.
