Catherine Kay Marie (Bongiovanni) OBrien of Braintree, formerly of Weymouth and Quincy, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 29 after a brief illness at the Pope Nursing Home in Weymouth. She was 88 years old. She was the wife of the late Francis H. OBrien Born in Boston on June 6, 1924, she was the loving daughter of Domenic and Catherina (Insana) Bongiovanni. Mrs. OBrien worked as a Burner at the Hingham Shipyard during WWII, as a Stitcher & Sample Maker in the Boston Garment District and as a Hairdresser in Quincy for many years. She enjoyed cooking, shopping and especially visits from her grandchildren. Mrs. OBrien was the loving mother of Paul OBrien and his wife Fran of Yarmouth, ME and Kenneth OBrien and his wife Mary of Braintree. She was the cherished grandmother of Jeffrey OBrien of Yarmouth, ME, Patricia OBrien of Raleigh, NC, Jacqueline, Kate and Alison OBrien of Braintree and great-grandson Finnegan. She was the dear sister of Domenic Bongiovanni and his wife Helen of Braintree. Funeral from the Bolea-Buonfiglio Funeral Home, 116 Franklin Street, Quincy on Monday, Dec. 3 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Johns Church, 44 School Street, Quincy at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 5 - 8 p.m. Interment in Braintree Cemetery.
