Gael M. (Metayer) Corbin Sweezey of Pompano Beach, Fla., and formerly Braintree, Mass., died Tuesday, April 17, 2013. Gael was born in Boston to the late Daniel P. Mahoney and Elizabeth Metayer, April 24, 1941. She was a longtime resident of Braintree, Mass., where she was raised by her mother, Elizabeth (Nener), and stepfather, Edward A. Metayer, and later on raising her own children in her beloved town. She was a graduate of Archbishop Williams High School, Class 1959. She attended Cardinal Cushing Jr. College and Northeastern University. In recent years one of her greatest joys was the discovery of her deceased fathers family in Nova Scotia. Gael worked for the Jury Commissioner at the Commonwealth of Mass. There she was part of the three-member team, which designed the nationally acclaimed One Day Jury Trial computer system. In Florida, Gael was a key team member that designed, managed and maintained the Broward County financial computer systems. She loved her Catholic faith, and was active in Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth, Mass., and the Curtain Call theatre. A lifelong Kennedy Democrat, she had a great passion for politics and was a member of the North Broward Democratic Club and served as former elected-representative of the Broward County Florida Democratic Executive Committee. She was married to Paul M. Sweezey (deceased) and formerly James Corbin Jr. She is survived by adored sons and daughter-in-law, James, Greg, Byrne and Kristine Corbin; stepson, John Paul Sweezey, his wife Vilma; loving grandchildren, Byrne, Tara, Justin and Vincent. Also survived by dearest brother, Richard Metayer and his wife Delores; nephews, Franklin, Wyatt, Ethan, Aiden, and Richard Jr. (deceased); and sister-in-law, Alice Sweezey Maloney. Adored cousins also survive her in the U.S., England, and Canada; as well as treasured friends, neighbors and classmates. Reposing at the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., South Braintree, Mass., until 8:30 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2013, followed by a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 55 Commercial St., Weymouth.
