Harriett O. Nelson, age 92, passed away peacefully in Quincy, Jan. 23, 2014. Formerly of Milton and Duxbury, Mrs. Nelson grew up in Craig, Mo. She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mrs. Nelson was a graduate of Boston University where she received her bachelor's and master's degrees in Education. She was also a former member of the Town of Milton Warrant Committee and worked in the Milton Town Clerks office as a registrar of voters. The beloved wife of the late Vincent A. Nelson, she was the daughter of the late Daniel E. and Edith O. (Bostwick) Osburn. Also survived by cousins, Beverly Rizzo of Mo., Marlene Hughes of Ill., William Osburn of Md.; and her dear friends, Barbara Mahoney, Leo and Lois Judge, all of Milton, Mark and Elaine Hayes of Norwell and David and Patricia Sampson of Franklin. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Church, Milton, Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave., Milton, Tuesday 9:30 to 11 a.m., prior to Mass. Interment in Blue Hill Cemetery.
