Hildegard H. Carlson Obituary
Hildegard H. Chris Carlson, 88, of Houghs Neck, Quincy, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on the morning of May 4, 2013, following a brief illness. She was the loving wife of more than 60 years to the late Robert G. Bob Carlson, who died July 10, 2012. Born in Silesia, Germany, Feb. 4, 1925, she was the fourth of nine children born to the late Josef and Maria (Blasig) Filpe. She was raised and educated in Germany, and it was there that she met and married the love of her life, Robert, on Nov. 19, 1951. The two came to the U.S. at the end of World War II. Mrs. Carlson was a homemaker and a longtime active member of the Houghs Neck Congregational Church, where she served as a Deaconess. She was also a member of Stenkil Lodge 92, I.O.V, and the Viking Club of Braintree, where she was a member of the Ladies Group. She was the loving mother of Christina B. Thorne and her husband Richard of Brockton, and Cynthia E. Jansson and her husband Peter of Plymouth; cherished Raran of Jennifer A. Hartford, Richard R. Thorne, Teresa M. Kourtz, Eva-Marie S. Jansson and Natalie R. Jansson; dear sister of Erwin Filpe of Germany and Maria Herrmann of Illinois, and the late Alfons, Alfred, Rudolf and Heinz-Werner Filpe, Gisela E. Bilewski and Gertrud Bullman. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a large extended family in Germany. Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held Friday, May 10, at 11 a.m. in Houghs Neck Congregational Church, 310 Manet Ave., Houghs Neck, Quincy. Interment to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, Willard St., Quincy. Visiting hours Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Hamel, Wickens & Troupe Funeral Home, 26 Adams St., Quincy Center.
