James E. Gibbons, age 70, of Quincy, formerly of Beacon Hill, died unexpectedly, Friday, November 23, 2012 at home. He was born in Boston, raised and educated in Quincy schools and was a graduate of Quincy High School, Class of 1961. He has lived in Quincy for the past ten years, previously living in Bostons Beacon Hill during his working years where he made many friends. He was employed as an iron worker with Local 7 for thirty years and worked on several downtown office and other high-rise buildings. He has been retired many years. James loved to read, especially political books, and enjoyed intense and passionate discussions about the books he read. He also enjoyed fishing off the pier in Houghs Neck. Jimmy has a quick wit and a great sense of humor, The Gibber will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his son, James E. Gibbons, Jr. of ME. Beloved son of Eleanor C. (Hagan) Flibotte of Quincy, the late John B. Gibbons and the late John F. Flibotte. Dear brother of Bernard J. Gibbons of Quincy, Susan C. Haley of Scituate, Pamela R. Mulcahy of Braintree, John C. Flibotte of Kingston, Joseph E. Flibotte, Julianne Flibotte both of Quincy, Robert G. Flibotte of Hingham, Mark T. Flibotte of Cohasset and the late Michael Flibotte. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. At the request of the family, private Funeral Services were conducted at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy.
