Janet M. (Gallagher) Smith, of Avon, formerly of Milton, passed away on Nov. 23, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 74. Born in Boston, Janet graduated from St. Gregorys High School in Dorchester. Janet worked as an administrative assistant at Commonwealth Hematology and Oncology in Quincy for 25 years. Janet had many passions in life, including sewing, crafting and gardening; however, spending time with her family is what brought her the most joy. Janet was the wife of the late Kenneth Smith. Loving mother of Carolyn A. LeGrice and her husband Robert of Avon, Gregory Smith of NH and the late Geoffrey R. Smith. Devoted sister of Patricia Macdonald of Plainville, Francis Gallagher of Jacksonville, FL and Carole Barry of Plymouth. Dear grandmother of Megan, Susan and Brian. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Reposing at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main St. (Rte. 28), Randolph, until 9 a.m. on Wednesday, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Church, 350 Reedsdale Rd., Milton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 5 | 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Milton Cemetery.
