John Callahan, of Hanson, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2014. He is predeceased by his wife Janice Callahan, parents Patrick and Winifred Callahan, and brother Fred. He is survived by his sister Nancy Bouzan of Holbrook, his brothers Jim Callahan of Portsmouth, N.H., Ed Callahan and his wife Marion of Silver Springs, Md. He is the devoted father of Stephen Callahan of Pembroke, Donna Callahan-Poth of Hanson, Christopher Callahan of Hanson, and his 6 grandchildren: Kristin, Kyle, Kaden, Cullen, Caroline, and Caleb. John was born in Boston, and grew up on Elliot Street in Milton. He graduated from Suffolk University in 1965 with a BS in Chemistry. He had a passion for science and engineering, spending most of his career with Avco Corporation and Foxboro Company. John was an active member of St. Joseph the Worker Church, in Hanson. He was a lector, usher, CCD instructor, and enjoyed participating in the choir with his wife Janice. He was a resident of Hanson for over 40 years and contributed to the Hanson Scouting Organization. He spent several years as cub master for Pack 34 and assistant scout leader for Troop 101. John enjoyed art and advancing his talents in oil painting. Most of all John enjoyed time with his family, brothers, sister, friends and neighbors. His humor and wit are unforgettable and will be missed by all. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Homes, 2 Maquan St., Cor. Rte. 14 & 58, Hanson, on Thursday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph the Worker Church, 1 Maquan St.. Rte. 14, Hanson, on Friday at 10 a.m. Burial in Fern Hill Cemetery.
