Tech. Sgt. John D. Schrader, USAF retired, passed after a brief sudden illness Feb. 24, 2014, in Bellevue, Neb. Born in Quincy, Mass., May 18, 1943, he was the son of the late Ruth and Lee. He is survived by his cherished wife, Ann; children and spouses, James (Lisa), Kimberlee (Ty), Patrick; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild on the way; brothers, Paul (Clare) Schrader, Robert (Susan) Schrader; sister, Susan (David) Perrin; and ten nieces and nephews. John was a longtime member of the Braintree Warriors Drum and Bugle Corp before graduating from Braintree High School in 1961. He enlisted in the USAF in 1961 and served on bases around the world including Spain, Korea, Guam and Vietnam. He retired from the Air Force in 1981. His military decorations and awards include Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, Air Force Commendation with three oak leaf clusters, NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon with four oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Citation with V Device, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 6 oak leaf clusters and the United Nations Campaign Medal. After his Air Force career, John worked as a CPA and lived in Bellevue, Neb. He was a parishioner and very active at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Omaha, Neb. John had a military funeral and was interred at St. John's Cemetery, Bellevue, Neb. Memorials may be sent to Sts.
