Laurence P. "Larry" Whitney, age 62, of Warwick, R.I., formerly of Whitman, Mass., died peacefully at Kent Memorial Hospital Nov. 22, 2012, surrounded by his family, after a long and courageous battle with leukemia. Larry was a graduate of Weymouth High School and Massasoit Community College. He was employed in his family's business, King's Castle Land in Whitman for over 25 years before moving to Rhode Island to establish a career in purchasing with Allied Signal and Brown & Sharpe and later with MetLife. Larry loved music and in his 40s established an entertainment company known as Pendragon Entertainment, which went on to provide entertainment for all types of various functions throughout eastern Massachusetts. More than anything, he enjoyed life's simple pleasures with family and friends. He will always be fondly remembered for his sense of humor, kind and gentle soul with remarkable strength. Larry was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother and son. Larry is survived by his wife, Michele; his daughters, Michelle and her husband Carlos, and Joanne and her husband Ramon; and grandchildren, Caleb, Jacob, Olivia, Leo, and Elena. He is also survived by his loving father and mother, Clarence and Paula Whitney of Plymouth, Mass.; his sister, Jan (Meehan) and her husband Bob of Whitman; and his brothers, Ron and his wife Gayle of East Bridgewater, Mass., Ed and his wife Beverly of Halifax and Dana and his wife Heather of North Attleboro, Mass. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service in celebration of Larry's life to be held at the Grace Church, 421 Page St., Stoughton, Friday evening, Nov. 30, at 6 p.m.
