Mary Cummings Obituary
Mary Louise (Neely) (Johnson) Cummings, 70, of Abington died on September 17, 2012 after a long illness. She died peacefully surrounded by her devoted children and grandchildren. She was born in Dorchester in 1942 to the late Alexander and Dorothy (Major) Neely, and later relocated to the South Shore. She married William W. Johnson of Halifax, at the age of 19 and had 4 children. Later she married the late William (Butch) Cummings of Dorchester. Mary was a data entry operator and retired from many years of service to the Federal Government in the Alien Certification Department and was an active member of the Weymouth Elks Lodge #2232. Mary loved dancing, music, crochet, bowling, watching tennis and spending time with her many grandchildren. Mary is survived by her four loving children: William and Beverly Johnson of Abington; Robert and Gail Johnson of Whitman; Timothy and Madonna Johnson of Abington; and Debra (Johnson) Holland and James Ladd of Whitman. Mary was a devoted and loving grandmother to eleven grandchildren: Derin Johnson of Pembroke; Jake and Tana Johnson of Abington; Courtney, Shannon and Allison Johnson of Whitman; Timothy and Paige Holland of Whitman, and James and Alicia Ladd of Brockton as well as the late Randall Alphonse of Fall River. She was the loving sister of the late Donald Major, of Florida; Joseph Neely of California; the late Dorothy (Neely) Lee of Stoneham; and the late James Neely of Carver. She is also survived by 4 step children, many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends. Private services will be held by the family.
