Richard G. Wells (Ret. Chief M.P.D.) passed away peacefully in the company of his loving family on Monday, October 1, 2012. Most recently a resident of Alliance Healthcare, Braintree, he had resided in Milton for almost 50 years. Born in Boston, he grew up in Dorchester and graduated from Dorchester High School. A WW II Navy veteran, Chief Wells was a retired Chief and 43 year employee of the Milton Police Dept., a member of the Milton Police Association and a life member of MA Chiefs of Police. The loving husband of Virginia F. (Forde) Wells, he is also survived by his devoted children; Chief Richard G. Wells, Jr., M.P.D., Stephen F. Wells, John A. Wells, M.F.D. all of Milton, James J. Wells, H.P.D. of Abington and Sgt. Daniel P. Wells, M.S.P. of Weymouth, his cherished grandchildren; Erin Wells Tucker, H.P.D., Patrick, Terence, Emily, Henry, Daniel, Rachel, Liam and Molly Wells, his great grandsons, William and Benjamin Tucker. He was the brother of Francis X. Wells of Braintree and the late Mary Murphy, Harold, Norman, Robert and John Wells. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Agatha Church, Milton, Friday at 10 AM. Visiting hours will be held at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave., Milton, Thursday 3 to 8 PM. Interment in Milton Cemetery.
