Richard Dick Oakley Sr., of Holbrook formerly of Rochester, NY passed away unexpectedly December 18, 2012 at the age of 64. He was the beloved husband of Deborah (Reale) Oakley, and loving father of Jennifer L. Oakley of Dorchester and Richard P. Oakley, Jr. of Middleboro. Dear son of Lois (Bishop) Oakley of Rochester, NY and the late Wilbert E. Oakley, Jr. Devoted brother of Wilbert R. Oakley and his wife Elaine of Lake Mary, FL, Kathleen O. Evans of Centerville, OH, and Stephen R. Oakley and his wife Mary Ann of Rochester, NY, who along with many nieces, nephews and the entire Reale family, loved him and will miss him dearly. Dick was born and raised in Rochester, NY. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the US Navy and proudly served 4 years of active duty during the Vietnam Era. He worked for Blue Shield of Massachusetts for 16 years and then became one of the founders of Mass Mailers, Inc. in So. Boston, where he has devoted his lifes work for the last 30 years. He was the heart and soul of the company, working alongside his wife and their loyal, hard working employees who made up his second family. He was a former member of the Town of Holbrooks Finance Committee. His greatest joys in life were his wife and children. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends, playing cribbage with a special group of people, and meeting someone new whenever he could. One of his philosophies was There are no strangers, just friends we havent yet met. For the past thirty years he and his family have made their home in Holbrook. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation period Thursday December 27, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:30 PM, immediately followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 7:30 PM in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 69 So. Franklin St.(Rte. 37) Holbrook MA. In lieu of flowers, his family respectfully requests that a memorial contribution be made in his name to Operation Comfort Warriors, American Legion Post 440, 295 California St., Newton, MA 02458.
