Robert G. Byrne Jr., age 80, of Stoneham Road in Brookfield, N.H., died March 28, 2013, at Brigham and Womens Hospital in Boston. Born Dec. 26, 1932, in Swampscott, Mass., the son of Robert G. Byrne Sr., and Valerie (Smiechowski) Byrne, he resided in Quincy, Mass., until moving to Brookfield, N.H., permanently upon his retirement. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a graduate of Norwich University, Class of 1956. A retired school teacher, he taught chemistry, having worked at Braintree High School and was retired from the Plymouth School System in Plymouth, Mass. A ham radio operator, he was an excellent photographer. He loved to travel, but especially loved making maple syrup, gardening and cutting firewood. He and his wife were involved with collecting and selling antiques for many years. Survived by his wife, Sandra M. (Noonan) Byrne; his daughters, Jennifer and Sarah and her husband Derek Ciulla. Calling hours are Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Peaslee Funeral Home, 2079 Wakefield Road, in Sanbornville (Wakefield), N.H.
