Frank C. Colletta, age 86, a lifelong Quincy resident, died peacefully, Monday, February 24, 2014. Frank was born in Quincy and was a graduate of Quincy High School, Class of 1944. He was also a graduate of Boston College, Class of 1949. He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and served as a Seaman First Class aboard the USS LST 747 and the USS LST 981. Frank was the longtime owner of the former Colletta Construction Company in Quincy and has been retired many years. He was a member of the Third Order of Saint Francis, the Braintree Knights of Columbus, the Saint Johns senior group and the Saint Marys senior group. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. Frank was devoted to his family and especially to his three cherished grandchildren. Beloved husband for sixty-one years of Edna (Saad) Colletta. Devoted father of Nancy Morovitz and her husband Martin, Francine Haulenbeek and her husband Joseph and Lisa Childs. Loving grandfather of Dana Childs, Maretta Morovitz and Hana Childs. One of five siblings, Frank was pre-deceased by Anthony Colletta, Luciann Baker, Rev. Albert Colletta and Lee Leavitt. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, Friday, Feb. 28th at 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the funeral home Thursday, Feb 27th from 4 | 7 p.m. Interment with Military Honors at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
