Frederick W. Fred Young, age 48, a lifelong resident of Quincy, died peacefully, Friday, March 7, 2014 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. He was born, raised and educated in Quincy. Fred was employed in the construction industry for the Robert S. Young Company and had also worked as a former union laborer. He was a late member of Local #4 Heavy Equipment Operators. Fred enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandson, Damien. Devoted father of Alicia N. Young of Quincy and Daniel R. Young of Raynham. Loving grandfather of Damien. Beloved son of Robert S. Young of Quincy and the late Helen M. (Smith) Mackiewicz. Brother of Robert S. Young, Jr. of Quincy, Laureen S. Corey and her husband George of Braintree, and Kelly A. Young of Braintree. Grandson of Laura M. Smith of Quincy. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visiting hours will be held at Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, Thursday, March 13th from 4 - 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment private.
