Bertha (Brosky) Matson of Braintree, formerly of West Virginia, died March 12, 2014, at the age of 96. Wife of the late James J. Matson, she was the loving mother of James A. Matson of N. Weymouth, Mary A. Fairbanks of Largo, Fla., and the late Susan M. Nickson; devoted sister of Helen B. Petri of Wheeling, W.Va. Also survived by 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and her dear friend, Lynne Nagle. Bertha was a licensed practical nurse and had worked at the Braintree Manor Nursing Home. She was active in politics, kept up with current events and loved to garden. Bertha will be greatly missed by all those who were blessed to have known her. Reposing at the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington Street, Braintree, until 12:15 p.m. Saturday, followed by a funeral Mass at 1 p.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Braintree.
