Carson Kuo-Hsiang Tsao, age 83, died peacefully Thursday, March 13, 2014, at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. Carson was born in Shanghai, China, raised and educated there. He immigrated to the United States to attend college at the University of California Berkeley where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He later received his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from MIT and after his retirement, he was proud to have earned his PhD degree in Public Policy from the University of Massachusetts Boston. He had lived in Braintree for fifty-two years. Carson was a Consulting Electrical Engineer and Program Manager. He began his career with the former Pickard and Burns of Waltham, and then worked for the Raytheon Company for thirty years. While at Raytheon, he wrote numerous technical papers and received many awards. He also contributed to several patents. During retirement, he enjoyed volunteering at the Braintree Council on Aging where he provided tax advice. He was the beloved husband for fifty-nine years of Marion E. Betty (Eng) Tsao; devoted father of Terry Kelley and her husband Michael of Ormond Beach, Fla., Brian D. Tsao and his wife Julia Fey of Nashua, N.H.; loving grandfather of Christopher Kelley, Rosemary Kelley and Katrina Tsao; brother of Chen H. Tsao of Va.; and also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, Monday, March 17, at 12 p.m. Reverend William C. Harding III, Pastor of the Bethany Congregational Church in Quincy will officiate. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation Monday at the funeral home from 11:30 - noon.
