Robert C. Compton, 71 years of age, passed away with his family at his side, at the Colonial Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Weymouth, Saturday, March 15, 2014. He was born in Boston and raised in Westwood where he was a graduate of Westwood High School. He subsequently attended Northeastern University. He was a Braintree resident for forty-six years and formerly resided in Quincy. Robert served with the Army Reserves in Norwood. He was the retired owner of Doors and More, Inc., a garage door firm located in Braintree. Before owning his own firm, he worked for his father, Cliff Compton, operating a garage door firm, for twenty years. Robert was a Scout Master for Troop 138 in Braintree, for twelve years. He was adept at woodworking. He was the beloved husband of Joan N. (Doucette) Compton; and the devoted father of Robert C. Compton II of Hagerstown, Md., Peter C. Compton married to Christine Compton of Bridgewater and Kirk C. Compton of Attleboro. He was the loving grandfather of Anna, Helen, Kevin, Maxwell, Brynlee, Alexis and Campbell. He was the brother of the late Carole Kreider, and son of the late Lemuel Cliff Compton and Dorothy B. (Leister) Compton. Visiting hours will be at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree, Wednesday, March 19, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home Thursday, March 20, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Beth Walden of the Central Square Congregational Church, Bridgewater officiating. The interment will be private.
