Robert C. Bonang Jr., 90 years of age, entered life eternal at Quincy Medical Center Monday, April 7, 2014. He was born in Boston and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a longtime employee of New England Telephone Company-Verizon where he was a technician. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, the ARRL, the American Legion, and the Association of BellTel Retirees. He was the beloved husband of the late Catherine T. (Crowley) Bonang. He was the devoted father of Catherine M. Bonang of Lexington, Deborah A. Horner of Yuma, Ariz., Susan M. Mitchell married to Robert Mitchell of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and Robert C. Bonang III of Braintree. He was the loving grandfather of Michael Horner of Scottsdale, Ariz., Melissa McLaughlin of London, England, Sean Mabey of Boston, and Jacqueline Mabey of New York City. He was the loving great-grandfather of Molly Mabey, Grace and Sadie Horner, and James and Margaret McLaughlin. Visiting hours will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree, Friday, April 11, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. There will be a gathering at the funeral home Saturday, April 12, at 9 a.m. to be followed by a funeral Mass in the Church of St. Thomas More, Elm Street and Hawthorn Road, Braintree, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Braintree Cemetery. The Rev. James McCarthy will be the celebrant.
