Dorothy Lorraine Hegenberger, 94, of Hanover, formerly of Rockland, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014. She was born March 11, 1920, in Winthrop. Dorothy was a true friend with an amazing capacity for remembering the tiniest of details well into her 90s. She was always concerned, interested, and caring to all of her childrens lifes circumstances. Dorothy was very strong physically and beautiful at the same time. She never complained or swore. Dorothy had no vices except those habitual Red Sox games on TV and playing cards with her lady friends. She also enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Rockland VFW Auxiliary. Dorothy was a true old school holy woman in the "Eyes of our Lord." Wife of the late Carlton Hegenberger, Dorothy is survived by her children, Richard C. Hegenberger or Scituate, Carla J. Hegenberger and her companion Thomas OSullivan of Quincy, Paul F. Hegenberger and his companion Carol Fabyian of Holbrook, Lee A. Forest and her husband David of Florida, John S. Hegenberger and his wife Debra of Pembroke, and the late Lorraine Curtis. She was the sister to the late William Boudreau. Dorothy was a grandmother to 13 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington Street, Hanover, Sunday from 2-5 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover St., Rte. 139, in Hanover. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Hospice of the South Shore, 30 Reservoir Dr., Rockland, MA 02370.
