Nancy B. Tewksbury Obituary
Nancy B. ONeil Tewksbury, age 90, died peacefully at home with her daughter at her bedside, June 10, 2014. She was the devoted wife of the late Emerson S. Tewksbury. Born in Duxbury, Oct. 6, 1923, a daughter of the late James ONeil (former Duxbury Chief of Police) and Isabelle ONeil. She was educated in Duxbury schools and had worked as a waitress for over 40 years at the Milepost Restaurant in Duxbury. Nancy was also a private caretaker for many throughout her life. She was a member of the Duxbury American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and had spent countless hours volunteering at the VA Hospital in Brockton. Nancy loved cooking, singing, dancing, telling jokes and traveling. She cruised annually with her dear friends Shaya and Jim Love. She was a people person who enjoyed being surrounded with laughter and music. She held a place close to her heart for her puppies, Dave, Champ, Rosco and Belle. Nancys daughter Liz was her caretaker for many years surrounding her with love and bringing her happiness throughout the end of her life. Nancy was the loving mother of Cathy Courtney and her husband Stan of Manomet, Craig Tewksbury and his wife Susan of Melbourne Beach, Fla., Neil Tewksbury and his partner Tanya Kinasewich of Melbourne Beach, Fla., and Liz Tewksbury of Plymouth. She was beloved grandmother of Zephen Courtney and his wife Liz of New York, Brandon Tewksbury of Melbourne Beach, Fla., Erin McMullen and her husband Mat of Melbourne Beach, Fla., Kara Cushing Norris and her husband Jay of Plymouth, Wyatt Tewksbury and Myles Tewksbury. She was predeceased by her siblings, James Buddy ONeil, Jane ONeil Stroud, Margaret Betty ONeil Petrell, and Sylvia ONeil Wood. Visitation will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2014, at the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St., Plymouth, followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Cremation will take place in Vine Hills Crematory, followed by interment in Mayflower Cemetery, Duxbury, with her beloved husband.
