Douglas F. Bowes Obituary
Douglas F. Bowes, age 82, formerly of Braintree and Dorchester, died peacefully, Friday, June 27, 2014, at Quincy Medical Center. Doug was born in Boston, raised and educated in Dorchester. He had lived in Weymouth for six years and Braintree for twenty-five years. He was employed as a truck driver for Local 25 for over thirty years and retired in 1994. He enjoyed trains and was an avid railroad enthusiast. He also enjoyed travelling and family vacations. Doug was devoted to his family. Beloved husband of the late Nancy A. (Collins) Bowes, he was the devoted father of Douglas F. Bowes III of Dorchester, Paul C. Bowes of Malden and his companion Janice Powers of Everett, Gail M. Dilworth and her husband Timothy of Weymouth and Gary Bowes of Weymouth; loving grandfather of Christopher Dilworth and Courtney Dilworth both of Weymouth; brother of Donald Bowes and his wife Elizabeth, Thomas Bowes and his wife Linda all of Quincy and the late Robert Bowes. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, One Independence Avenue, Quincy, Tuesday, July 1, at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass in Saint Marys Church, 95 Crescent Street, West Quincy, at 10 oclock. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the funeral home Monday 5 - 8 p.m. Interment Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
