Margaret E. (Garvin) Duggan, age 88, formerly of Dorchester, died peacefully, Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton, surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was born and raised in Dorchester. She was a graduate of the former Dorchester High School for Girls, Class of 1943 and the former Boston State Teachers College, Class of 1947. She lived in Quincy for fifty-nine years, previously in Dorchester where she was an active and proud member of Saint Marks Parish. Margaret was an elementary school teacher for the Boston Public Schools, with most of her career at the Mather Elementary School in Dorchester. She had thirty years of service and has been retired many years. As a young girl, Margaret was a member of the Saint Marks Girl Scouts and still maintained friendships with her fellow scouts, until recently meeting monthly for lunches. Margaret was an active member of Sacred Heart Parish in North Quincy and very proud of her Catholic faith. She was a longtime member of the Pro Parvulis Club. She loved singing and dancing, and was blessed with many wonderful friends. Margaret was devoted to her family and especially to her eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Beloved wife of the late Dennis M. Duggan Sr. Devoted mother of Dennis M. Duggan Jr. and his wife Mary (Reidy) Duggan of Milton, Reverend Kevin P. Duggan of Toms River, New Jersey, Maura Ann Howe and her husband Jonathan Howe of Norwell and Sheila Mary Fisher and her husband Robert Fisher of Quincy. Loving grandmother of Jonathan M. Duggan of Westborough, Jennifer Korn of Hingham, Emily Harrison of Westwood, Elizabeth Duggan of Milton, Patrick Howe and Austin Howe both of Norwell, Robert Fisher and Kevin Fisher both of Quincy. Loving great-grandmother of Bradan, Cael, Dermot, Allison and Matthew. One of ten siblings, Margaret was the sister of Frances Harrington of South Boston and pre-deceased by Elizabeth Lynch, Thomas Garvin, Catherine Patsy Garvin, Mary Bouchie, Alice McHale, Ann Garvin, Peter Garvin and Joseph Garvin. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews Margarets family would especially like to thank all her devoted caregivers for their kindness and compassionate support these past three years.
