Hazel M. Welsford Obituary
Hazel Mary (Gill) Welsford, 91, of East Longmeadow, and formerly of Braintree, Mass., and Sun City Center, Fla., passed away on Monday, July 28, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Hazel was born in Roxbury, Mass. on Feb. 27, 1923, the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Eddleston) Gill. She was a graduate of Saugus High School Class of 1940. Hazel worked in the Controller Department at Harvard University and at Armstrong Cork in Braintree. Hazel enjoyed so much in life such as dancing the jitterbug, swimming and sunbathing at Nantasket Beach in Hull, entertaining in numerous productions with the Braintree Womens club, shopping at the Quincy Bargain Center, and most importantly spending time with her family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Frederick W. Welsford in March, 2013, after 65 years of marriage. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by four brothers, Bert, Major, Harold, and William and a dear sister Doris. Hazel is survived by three devoted children Frederick W. Welsford Jr., of San Diego, Calf., Jeanne Harris and her husband Neil of Mashpee, Mass., Judith Croci and her husband John of East Longmeadow, Mass., and she leaves seven cherished grandchildren Chip, Sara and her husband Ken, Keri and her husband Matt, Jeffrey, and his fianc Laura, Samantha, Eric, and James, as well as her nine adored great-grandchildren: Matthew, Avery, Julia, Emma, Grace, Kaylee, Kai, Koa, and Kaleo. All services and burial will be private in Bourne National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Hazels memory to Baystate VNA and Hospice 280 Chestnut Street, 6th Floor, Springfield, MA 01199.
