Obituary Condolences

J D Lane, 89 years of age, passed away at Sunrise of Braintree Assisted Living Facility Saturday, July 26, 2014. He was born in Millcreek, Mo., and received his education in Missouri. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant during World War II and the Korean conflict. J D received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, Anartica Medal and the World War II Victory Medal among other decorations. When he came to the Boston area, he served as an instructor for Sales Training, Inc. (STI), before becoming sales manager for Jackson and Moreland Engineering Firm in Boston. He entered the real estate field and was employed by Brooks Real Estate, Stone Real Estate and Mass. Realty, all in Braintree, before founding the J D Lane Realty Firm in South Braintree, which he owned and operated from 1978 to 1998. J D was a member of the South Shore Board of Realtors. He belonged to the Delta Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Braintree. He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth L. (McCormick) Lane who died in 2000. He was the loving father of James Daniel Lane and his wife Margaret (Johnson) Lane of Franklin. He was the devoted grandfather of James D. Lane and his wife Shari of Middletown, N.J., Gregory William Lane and his wife Erin of Walpole and Brian Patrick Lane of Morris Plains, N.J. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Annamae Lane and Gregory Rexton Lane, both of Walpole, and Kylie Jana Lane and Samantha Bella Lane, both of Middletown, N.J. A visiting hour will be held Thursday, Aug. 7, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree, to be followed by a prayer service at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. A priest from Ascend Hospice will officiate. There will be U.S. Navy honors at the cemetery.
