John J. Urbanus Obituary
John (Jack) J. Urbanus, 71, of Archer, FL, formerly of Quincy, MA, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Friday, Aug. 26, 2011 in Florida. He was born on Nov. 23, 1940, the son of the late John D. Urbanus, and Anna (Sanda) Urbanus. He was a graduate of Quincy High School and Trade School. Mr. Urbanus was an independent commercial lobster fisherman and Captain of the vessel Jeanne. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves. He was a member of Massachusetts Lobstermans Association and founding member of the Boston Harbor Lobstermans Cooperative, a member of Alcoholics Anonymous, and Past President of the Rock Island Cove Improvement Association. Mr. Urbanus was recognized by the City of Quincy for his years of dedication and support to Harveys Salt Water Fishing Club Veterans Day. John is survived by one sister, Anne and her husband Victor Enright, one brother, Paul Urbanus; two daughters, Cindy and her husband Robert Grant, Debbie and her husband Reggie Regis; one son John J. Urbanus, Jr.; eight grandchildren, Susan Rebaldo and Karen Lipka, Colleen Dennis, Shauna and Courtney Urbanus, Jean, Christie and Kennen McCarthy; seven great-grandchildren, Kailey, Lindsey, Eric, Nicholas, Samuel, David and Savannah. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Marylea Urbanus and one grandson, Dan Grant. A funeral will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Milam Funeral Home, in Newberry, FL. Memorial service to be held in Houghs Neck, Quincy at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Harveys Salt Water Fishing Club Veterans Day, 66 Allerton St., Quincy, MA 02169.
