James F. Purpura of West Bridgewater died Feb. 26, after a lengthy illness, at the age of 76. James was the son of the late Michael and Berenice (Abate) Purpura and grew up in Quincy. As a young man, he was in the U.S. Naval Reserves and attended New England College of Pharmacy. James worked at Turas Pharmacy in Kingston for 10 years and managed Sedells Pharmacy in Easton for 20 years. James married Eleanor Hoisington on Dec. 16, 1960, and the two raised their children in West Bridgewater. James was an avid camper, cook, gardener and traveler. He loved the beach and being with his family. He was the loving husband of Eleanor M. (Hoisington) Purpura of West Bridgewater; and devoted father of David J. Purpura and his wife Sasha of Middleboro and Bruce M. Purpura of West Bridgewater; loving Nono of Michael, Christine and Kaitlyn; brother of the late Marie Moroni; loving uncle of Deanne, Peter, and Paul.
