Gregg W. Durant, of Weymouth, passed away Nov. 23, 2012 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 55. Gregg graduated from Weymouth High School Class of 1974. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp from 1976-1979 where he was a combat engineer. An architect by trade, he loved working with his hands and could often be found working in the yard gardening, building and fixing anything needed by friends and family. He was affectionately known as Uncle Gregg by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Beloved son of James and Barbara (Cooper) Durant of Weymouth. Loving brother of Gary Durant and his wife Sue of Carver, Glenn Durant and his late wife Sue of Hanson, Geoff Durant and his wife Debi of Plymouth, Lori Thomas and her husband Eric of Pembroke and the late Linda Malnati and her husband Paul of NH. Cherished uncle of Jesse, Mardi, Lindsay, Jason, Jamie, Jillian, Diandra, Courtney, Zachary and 5 grand nieces and nephews. Also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. Uncle Gregg to many dear friends and their families. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 3 - 7 p.m. in the McDonald Funeral Home, North Weymouth at 40 Sea Street (off Rte.3A-Bicknell Sq.) Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8 a.m. Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Jerome Church, Weymouth at 9 a.m. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne. Given Greggs dedication to the Marine Corp, love for children and the approaching holidays, in lieu of flowers please bring a toy to his visiting hours for Toys for Tots or have donations sent to the Marine Corp Toys for Tots, P.O.
