Philip G. Barrett, Jr., age 65, formerly of Quincy, died Thursday, August 29, 2013, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Boston, raised and educated in Boston schools and had lived in Walpole for four years, previously living in Quincy for most of his life. Phil was a tool and die maker for the Vulcan Tool Company, now of Hingham. He had forty-one years of service and retired in 2011. He was proud to have been the president of USWA Local 8724 for thirty-five years. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era. Phil loved music, karaoke and movies. He was an avid Boston sports fan, especially the N.E. Patriots and Boston Red Sox. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth A. (Sayers) Barrett; devoted father of Jessica J. Dunner and her husband Raymond of Dorchester; beloved longtime companion of Lynn Reynolds; dear brother of George Barrett of Quincy, Michael Barrett of Middleboro, Ellen DAngelis, John Barrett, Robert Barrett all of Quincy, Maria Willard of Coral Springs, Fla., and Lea South of Quincy. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. A prayer service will be conducted at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, Monday, Sept. 2, at 5 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the funeral home Monday 2 - 5 p.m. Interment private.
