Ellen M. Gamache

Ellen M. (Walsh) Oni Gamache of Houghs Neck passed away at Royal Rehab in Braintree, Sunday, June 15, 2014, at age 88. Born in Cambridge, where she was raised and educated, she worked at Pewter Pot for a time and at Jordan Marsh for 19 years before retiring. A member of the Ladys Sodality at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, she was also a founding member of her sewing circle. The beloved wife of the late Robert H. Gamache, Oni was the loving mother of Gabrunde Monfield of Quincy, Elizabeth Beth Felipe and her husband Chagas of Sanbornville, N.H., Monica Dougenik of Quincy and the late Raymond Gamache; dear grandmother of Sarah and Jackie of Quincy; beloved sister of Katherine C. Walsh of Quincy and the late Thomas C. Walsh and William Walsh; and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, June 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home, 74 Elm St., Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Thursday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 8 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 9 a.m. at Holy Trinity Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1000 Sea St., Quincy.
