Leland W. West
LYMAN, SC-- Leland Wendell West, 87, of 105 Pinewood Drive, died July 3, 2013 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.
A native of Spartanburg County, son of the late William J. and Maggie Burnett West, he was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during WWII and earning the Bronze Star, and retired as Captain with the Army National Guard. Mr. West was a retired employee of Lyman Printing and Finishing and a member of Lyman First Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel Allen West of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Danny S. and Brenda West of Landrum; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy W. and Charles West of Lyman; four grandchildren, Shannon, Corey, Jennifer, and Matthew; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. West was predeceased by five brothers, Harry, Guy, Hilton, Buford, and Wilbert West.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Lyman First Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Scott Stancil and Rev. Gideon Long. Burial will follow in Wood Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Barry Pryor, Bobby Simpson, Tommy Sutton, Jason Foster, Corey West, Matthew West, and Larry Owens.
Visitation will be held 1:30-2:45 p.m. Saturday at the church.
The families are at their respective homes.
Memorials may be made to Lyman First Baptist Church Building Fund, 80 Groce Road, Lyman, SC 29365.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the Hospice Home staff, caregivers at the residence.
