Lewis V. "Buck" Petty
ROEBUCK, SC-- Lewis Vernon "Buck" Petty, 84, of Roebuck died Saturday, November 17, 2012, at his home. Born July 21, 1928, in Cherokee County, he was the son of the late Jess Monroe and Ollie Mae Coleman Petty and husband of the late Barbara (Tootsie) Carol Tolleson Petty.
Mr. Petty was a former employee of Clifton Manufacturing Company #2 and retired from Hoechst-Celanese, and was a member of Roebuck Baptist Church. He loved his family, his special canine companion, "Buddy", the Atlanta Braves, and the SC National Guard. He was a MP in the U. S. Army and served in and retired from the SC National Guard after 41 years of service.
Surviving are daughters, Brenda Petty Garner and husband Ronnie of Roebuck, and Cathy Petty Rollins and husband Randy of Moore; grandchildren, Justin Garner and wife Dana of Moore, Jessica Alverson and husband Michael of Roebuck, and Mitzi Rollins of Moore; Great-grandchildren, McKalie Alverson, Hayden Rollins, and Nathan Rollins; step-great-grandchildren, Katelyn Garner and Tyler Davis; and sisters, Ruth McElrath and Jessie Tolleson both of Spartanburg, and Barbara Swofford and husband Billy of Cowpens. He was predeceased by a sister, Lois Phillips, and brothers, Boyce Petty and Sam Petty.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, November 19, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Tim Williams and the Rev. Ondra Black. Burial with military rites by the SC National Guard will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 432 North Duncan Bypass, Union, SC 29379 or Roebuck Baptist Church Revitalization Building Fund, PO Box 490, Roebuck, SC 29376.
The family is at the home of his daughter Brenda Garner, 119 Switzer Street, Roebuck, SC.

Buck was a member of the 178th Field Artillery, Battery B, of the South Carolina Army National Guard,where he and I served together. He was a good soldier and also a good friend! He always looked for the good in everyone! We shall miss him and his sense of humor!

Brenda & Cathy, Words cannot express the feeling when we loose our parents. But I wanted to share with you this thought. As I was growing up, your parents home was one of my favorite places to visit. God says we will always meet again in heaven and what a glorious day that will be.
