Jackie Ray Griffin MOORE, SC-- Jackie Ray Griffin, 61, of 5689 Reidville Road, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2015. He was the son of the late Carl Richard Griffin and Edith Crocker Griffin. He was a member of the Potters House and was a painter for many years. Survivors include a brother, Eddie Griffin of Fairmont; two aunts, Doris Ray of Moore and Mildred Pearson of Reidville; two uncles, J.W. Griffin and Charles Griffin both of Reidville. He was predeceased by a brother, Donnie Griffin, and a sister, Carolyn Griffin. Funeral services will be 4:00 PM Monday at the Stribling Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 PM Sunday evening at the funeral home. The interment will be at Westwood Memorial Gardens. The families are at their respective homes. Mabel Gulledge Wright LANDRUM, SC-- Mabel Gulledge Wright, 96 of Landrum, SC, passed away Friday April 17, 2015. A native of Anson County, NC, she was born April 23, 1918. She was the daughter of the late E. Vann and Martha Elizabeth Lowery Gulledge and widow of Bennett Wright. She was a member of The First Baptist Church Landrum and retired from Landrum Mills. She is survived by four daughters, Ann Yonce and husband Cecil of Johnston, SC, Barbara Jenkins and husband Danny of Greenville, SC, Cathy Smith and husband Allen of Lake Lanier, SC and Debby Wright and fiancé Tony Bertucci of Martinez, GA. Five grandchildren, Katherine Wise and husband David, Rhonda Yonce, Donna Diaz, Beth Thomason and husband Will and Andrew Smith and wife Lindsey. Six great grandchildren, Mary Katherine Wise, Clark Wise, Carolina Diaz, Alicia Diaz, Bennett Thomason and Daniel Thomason. Services will be held at 3 pm, Sunday April 19 at Petty Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00-3:00pm. The family would like to express the deepest thanks to White Oak Manor of Tryon and Hospice of the Carolina Foothills. Jackie Cooper BLACKSBURG, SC-- James Marion (Jackie) Cooper, 75, of 197 Cooper Trail, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Gaffney Medical Center. Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Brenda Hancock Cooper and this Saturday, April 18, 2015 would have been their 56th wedding anniversary. He was the son of the late James Lyles Cooper and Myrtle Henson Cooper. Mr. Cooper was a graduate of Gaffney High School and retired from Johns Manville. He was a former Mason & Shriner, was a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans, and was a member of the National Guard. He never met a stranger, was a Corvette enthusiast, and was a member of Park Hills Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, James (Jimmy) Lyles Cooper, II of Blacksburg; a daughter, Kelly C. Land and husband, Jeff, of Gaffney; a brother, Marshall Cooper of Blacksburg. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Joe Cooper and a sister, Betty Bailey. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 PM on Friday, April 17, 2015 at Blakely Funeral Home. Memorial services will immediately follow at 4:00 PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bruce Jennings and Rev. Tom Moore officiating. Ms. Mittie Dogan SPARTANBURG, SC-- Ms. Mittie Dogan, 76, of 251 Dogan Court, Spartanburg, SC entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 after a long illness. A native of West Springs, SC. Ms. Mittie Dogan was the daughter of the late Willie and Mollie Henderson. She was an employee of Mullinax. Left to cherish fond and loving memories are three sons; Bobby Dogan, Jr., Stevie Dogan, and Jamie Dogan all of Spartanburg, SC; one sister; Elwillie Gambrell of Spartanburg, SC; four brothers; Adolphus Sims, Henry Sims, David Henderson, and James Henderson all of Spartanburg, SC; 5 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Duncan Sr., John T.  
John T. Duncan, Sr. CLINTON, SC-- John T. Duncan, Sr. passed away on Tuesday evening, April 14th, 2015. Born in Rock Hill, South Carolina, on September 2nd, 1937, to James Holt Duncan and Lena Bennett Duncan, John was an alumnus of Rock Hill High School. He graduated from Clemson A&M College in 1961, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management, being the first in his family to graduate from college. He is survived by his wife, Dianne; two sons: John and his wife, Marllyn; and Jeff and his wife, Melody; and five grandsons, Jeremy and his wife, Somer, Adam, Graham, John Philip, and Parker. While at Clemson, John was a member of Kappa Sigma Nu fraternity. He was also a Master Mason, Simpsonville Lodge No. 311 AFM. He was a member of the Clemson Alumni Association and a member of IPTAY, since 1978. John served in the Army National Guard from 1953 to 1962, rising to the rank of Sgt. 1st Class. He enjoyed a successful career in the textile industry from 1962 to 1998, serving several companies in SC, NC, and Virginia, retiring as a Vice President with Arkwright Mills in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He attended First Baptist Church of Clinton, SC and the Randall Sunday School Class. The family says, 'He was an awesome husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, friend, Christian man, Clemson die-hard, hunter, fisherman, and protector of his family. We miss you and you will forever be in our hearts'. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 17th, 2015 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Gray Funeral Home, in Clinton, SC. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday afternoon, at 2:00 PM, April 18th, 2015, at Grandview Memorial Park in Rock Hill, SC. Howard M. Gray, Jr. INMAN, SC-- Howard Mingus Gray, Jr, 55, of Inman, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, after a sudden illness. Howard was born in Spartanburg on December 24, 1959, a son of Joyce Clayton Farmer, of Inman and the late Howard Mingus Gray, Sr. He worked as a computer technician and had served in the U.S. Navy. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his step-father; David Farmer of Inman, a daughter; Jennifer Gray and her husband Terrence Hendrix of Columbia, a sister; Laura Moon and her husband Robby of Inman, two grandchildren; Liam and Ethan Hendrix of Columbia, a niece; Molly Moon of Inman, and cousins; Sherry and Mike Gray of Inman. A memorial graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, April 17th, 2015 at the Inman Cemetery on Price Street, Inman. Kingsmore, Kathleen Self - Union  
Kathleen S. Kingsmore UNION, SC-- Mrs. Kathleen Self Kingsmore, age 88, of Union, went home to be with her Jesus on Wednesday, April 15, 2015. Mrs. Kingsmore was born in Newberry, March 14 1927, a daughter of the late Robert Lee Self and Ella Wood Self. She was the widow of Lawrence D. Kingsmore. Mrs. Kingsmore was formerly employed with United Merchants, Union Mill for 40 years and she was a member of Fairforest Baptist Church. She was the most precious mother, grandmother and always put Jesus and her children first in her life. Surviving members of her family include a sister, Shelby Jean Parks of Winder GA; three children, Kathy K. O'Shields and husband Daniel, Jerry Kingsmore and wife Stacey and Debbie K. Chastain and husband Jimmy all of Union; seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Kingsmore was predeceased by four brothers and one sister. Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, April 17, 2015 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Robert Scott and Rev. Brad Goodale. Visitation will be held from 1:45 until 2:45 Wednesday at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home prior to the graveside services. Active pallbearers will be Phillip O'Shields, Michael O'Shields, Brandon Chastain, Josh Kingsmore, Robin Price and Ray Vinson. Donald P. Lee SPARTANBURG, SC-- Donald Paul Lee, 75, husband of Diane McElhenney Lee, died Tuesday, April 14, 2015. Born March 24, 1940 in Spartanburg, SC, Donald was the son of the late Dorsey Paul and Inez Groce Lee. He was a graduate of Spartanburg High School, class of 1958 and attended Spartanburg Methodist College, and Wofford College. Donald honorably served his country in the US Army and National Guard. He was the owner and president of Gateway Warehouse. He and Mrs. Lee are members of The Episcopal Church of the Advent. In addition to his wife of 55 years, he is survived by two daughters, Patricia Lee Boyle and her husband, Albert, and Mary McElhenney Dunbar and her husband, John; four grandsons, Lee and Mac Thompson, Hunt Pack, and John Russel Dunbar; and a sister, Carolyn Lee Comer. A memorial service will be held Friday, April 17th, 4:00 PM at The Episcopal Church of the Advent. The family will receive friends following the service in the Parish and Community Life Center. Helen Waycaster Manning INMAN, SC-- Helen Waycaster Manning, 92, of Inman passed away April 15, 2015 at Alpha Health and Rehab. She was the daughter of the late George Lester and Bertha Wilson Waycaster and wife of the late Floyd L. Manning. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Inman and a retired teacher's aide. She is survived by two sons, Terry Manning (Lynn) of Inman, David Manning (Lisa) of Anderson; two sisters, Louise Creasman of Asheville, Lottie Pressley of Candler; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Bill Waycaster and two sisters, Virginia Fisher and Lois Bailey. The family will receive friends from 11:30am -1:00 PM Friday, April 17, 2015 at Petty Funeral Home. Joe Sherbert INMAN, SC-- Horace 'Joe' Sherbert, 23, of 3990 Highway 357, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2015. Born in Spartanburg, SC on October 31, 1991, he was the son of Evelyn Denise Hudgins and step son of Walter Brian Ochiltree of Wellford, as well as the son of Horace Ray Sherbert and step son of Janet Gosnell of Inman. In addition to his parents, Joe is survived by his son, Carter Joe Sherbert of Inman; brothers, Ray Sherbert, C.J. Sherbert, and Jerimia Sherbert; sisters, April Sherbert, Ashley Sherbert,, Brandi Sherbert and Carolyn Sherbert; step-brothers, Jonathan Ramsey, Travis Gosnell, Dylan Ochiltree, Spencer Ochiltree, and Brandon Ochiltree; step-sisters, Ashley Gosnell, and Shannon Gosnell; grandparents, Jackie and Jim Lyda; as well as 21 nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mr. Sherbert will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 17th, at Peace Free Will Baptist Church, with the Reverend Chuck Thornton officiating.
