GAFFNEY, SC-- Bobby Joel Peeler, 79, of 1224 Champion Ferry Road, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Carolinas Continued Care Hospital in Kings Mountain, NC.
Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Nancy Ruppe Peeler and son of the late Clarence Peeler and Kathleen Camp Peeler. Mr. Peeler was the former owner/operator of Peeler Rug Company and was a member of Cherokee Creek Baptist Church. Bob was the recipient of the 1981 S.C. Small Businessman of the Year Award, was a Mason, and loved the country, especially riding on his farm.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Steve Peeler and wife, Cindy, of Gaffney; a daughter, Lisa Peeler Brady of Mooresboro, NC; three brothers, Buddy Peeler and wife, Mollie, Eddie Peeler and wife, Janice, all of Mooresboro, NC, and Don Peeler and wife, Joann of Ellenboro, NC; two sisters, Brenda McSwain and husband, Leonard, of Shelby, NC, and Shelba Lovelace of Mooresboro, NC; two grandchildren, Shelby Brady and Gates Brady; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Sandra Ivey and Vivian Orr.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Charles and Sue McCraw, Nancy Bolin, Stan Summey, and the Neuro-ICU Unit at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:45 PM on Monday, June 16, 2014 at Cherokee Creek Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00 PM at the Church with Dr. Johnny Hunt officiating. Interment will be in the Lavonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
