Calvin Marvin Lee

Calvin Marvin Lee, 77, of Lumberton, passed away quietly on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at The Oaks at Beaumont. He was born in Clifton, South Carolina, to Pauline and Ray Lee, both deceased. Calvin served his country honorably and retired in 1974 from the United States Air Force. He served in Vietnam from 1969-1970 and for his outstanding service, was awarded the Bronze Star and Vietnamese Staff Honor Medal.
Calvin's Air Force career started as a Cryptographer taking him to Anchorage, Alaska. He then transferred into Administration and from there into Instructor Training at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi. As an instructor, he was recognized with many awards for his outstanding performance.
He graduated from William Carey College in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting after he worked for the Naval Oceanographic Research and Development Activity at Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. He Joined the United States Postal Service as a Rural Carrier, retiring in 1994.
Calvin grew up on a farm in South Carolina, where gardening became a way of life. The bounty the Lord gave him in the garden and his way of life, he gave back to his family, friends, and neighbors.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joan S. Lee; son, Charles E. Lee and his wife, Robyn, of Gulfport, Mississippi; daughters, Cindy Dougherty and her husband, Todd, of Lumberton; Stephanie Mauffray and her husband, Randy, of San Antonio; and Kathy Albert and her husband, Phil, of Kiln, Mississippi; sister, Lou Chastain of Boiling Springs, South Carolina; three nephews and one niece in South Carolina; and he was "Papa" to ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A gathering of Mr. Lee's family and friends will begin at 2:00 p.m. with his memorial service to follow at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2013, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A family committal was held at Broussard's Crematorium, Beaumont.
