COWPENS, SC-- Carolyn Rebecca "Becky" Hembree Humphries, 74, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. Born 11/14/1938, in Clifton, SC, she was a daughter of the late J.T. and Elma W. Hembree. She was widowed by the love of her life, Franklin "Frankie" Delano Humphries.
MaMa, as she was affectionally called by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was a great cook and known for her "Fried Apple Pies". Her family was the most important part of her life and the love, wisdom, and understanding she showed was immeasurable. She was always there to help or take in anyone that needed her. Becky attended Horton Memorial Wesleyan Church where she was given the honor of Mother of the Year. She was honored at church 2/3/2013, with service and meal by church members, family and friends. Becky loved the Lord and her church.
She is survived by sons, Ron Humphries (Lynn) of Inman and Randy Humphries of Cowpens; a daughter, Kim H. Painter of Cowpens; and a son-in-law, Ricky Martin of Gaffney. She was predeceased by a daughter, Cindy Martin. She is also survived by grandchildren, Shane (girlfriend, Michelle), Charlie (Ivey) and Brandon Martin (Ashley), Shannon Painter, Kyle and Ana Humphries and Dalton Gilbert; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; a sister, Dora Crocker; a brother-in-law, Pete Deaton; and a special family friend, Jim McAbee. She was also predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 16, at Horton Memorial Wesleyan Church officiated by Rev. Wilbur Key. Visitation will be 12:30-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
The family would like to say a special thanks to Doris Greene and Roynet Roserio of Agape Hospice.
