GAFFNEY, SC-- Mr. Charles Eugene Ivey, age 59, husband of Kathy Ann Haney Ivey of 451 Roundtree Rd., Gaffney, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013 at his home after a long illness.
Mr. Ivey was born in Spartanburg County on August 16, 1953, a son of the late Cecil James Ivey and Elsie West Ivey. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Jennifer Welchel and Brandy Melton, both of Gaffney and Katherine Henderson of Easley; three sons, Mike Ivey of Nashville, TN, Charlie Ivey and Eric Ivey, both of Gaffney; two step-sons, Timothy Atchley and Shane Atchley, both of Union; a step-daughter, Racheal Atchley of Spartanburg; two sisters, Bonnie Early and husband Henry and Linda Thompson, all of Gaffney; two brothers, Alvin Ivey and wife Claire of Fingerville and Kenneth Ivey of Gaffney. Mr. Ivey was predeceased by a step-son, Gary Atchley and a brother, Jimmy Ivey.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday January 6, 2013 at Sulpher Springs Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Jerry Ford and Rev. Randy Phillips. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Mike Ivey, Alvin Ivey, Kenny Ivey, Charlie Ivey, Eric Ivey, Wayne Ivey, Joseph Ivey, and Brian Ivey.
Visitation will be held 6:00 until 8:00 PM Saturday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Charles E. Ivey Fund, P.O. Box 293, Union, SC 29379.
The family will be at their respective homes.
