GAFFNEY, SC-- Charles Franklin Loftis, 86, passed from this life on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Gaffney Medical Center.
Born in Cherokee County, he was the son of the late John Malcolm Loftis and Maude Lucinda Trantham Loftis. Mr. Loftis was previously employed by Cherokee Finishing and most recently at Cherokee Acoustics. He was a collector of antique furniture, stained glass and old antique clocks. Mr. Loftis was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, the Merchant Marines, and the U. S. Army
Surviving is a brother, Tommy Loftis of Manassas, Virginia; extended family, Dawn Bridges and husband, Eddy of Gaffney; Nick Wells and wife, Pat of Gaffney; Earl Wells and wife, Linda, of Columbia; numerous nieces and nephews; his beloved dogs, Sam and Punkin. Mr. Loftis was preceded in death by four brothers, Lewis Loftis, Glenn Loftis, Carl Loftis and J. M. Loftis and two sisters, Louise Love and Annie Lee Loftis Faysouxx.
The family would like to extend special appreciation for the care and many hugs given to Charles by the Third Floor Staff at Peachtree Centre.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45 PM on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Blakely Funeral Home. Graveside services, with military honors, will immediately follow at 3:00 PM at Oakland Cemetery with Rev. Tim Holden officiating.
